Support Development Worker (Self-Directed Support)

Renfrewshire Council is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and values driven Self directed Support Development Worker to play a key role in delivering Self directed Support (SDS) across Adult and Children’s Services.

This post supports the implementation of Self directed Support in line with the Social Care (Self directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013, ensuring that disabled people, children, young people and their families are supported to exercise genuine choice and control over how their support is planned and delivered.

You will work closely with individuals, carers and professionals to help navigate SDS options, including Direct Payments and Option 2 Individual Service Funds, and will be instrumental in building knowledge, confidence and capacity across the workforce through high quality training and guidance.

You will have experience of working with service users, carers or the public and the ability to understand and follow procedures, as well as experience supporting Direct Payments, ILF or similar funding; working knowledge of SDS legislation; working knowledge of Employment Law; experience facilitating training.

You must have effective communication and writing skills; be self-motivated; well organised; and have the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, and able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

An SVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant subject is desirable.

A current full driving licence is also desirable.
