Early Years Graduate
Renfrewshire Council is committed to ensuring that children are offered the best start in life and are ready to succeed. The Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled early years’ graduate to join the central early years team and support local authority and funded provider settings to implement a quality curriculum, ensuring that all children experience high-quality early learning and teaching experiences.
The key function of the post includes supporting curriculum development and learning and teaching approaches. This will include assisting early years staff in their understanding of effective pedagogy and effective use of resources to match children’s individual needs and promote appropriate challenge and progression.
Keeping up to date with early years initiatives and developments and the ability to use data to identify, plan and guide targeted work are essential parts of the role.
You should have experience of early years provision, curriculum delivery, planning assessment and self-evaluation. You must also have understanding and knowledge of early childhood development, Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition and GIRFEC and an ability to lead on the dissemination of this knowledge to staff.
You must have a BA Childhood Practice or primary teaching qualification and an HNC/SVQ3 or other equivalent early years qualification (SCQF level 7) and must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council or GTC. We can also accept applications from candidates in their final year who have recently qualified in the relevant qualification and are waiting to receive their certificate of graduation.
It is also essential that you possess communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
If successful, you will be required to become a PVG Scheme Member. If you would like further information in relation to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
