During 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 the Council ran a pilot in which officers from Housing and Building Services worked together to reduce void turnaround time, achieving significant success by taking average re-let time from more than 50 days to fewer than 30.

It is now proposed to consolidate this work by setting up a new Empty Homes Team, led by an Empty Homes Team Manager, in order to ensure performance improvements are maintained and to continue to drive further efficiencies in the void process.

You will have a working knowledge of void property management and experience of team building, and stakeholder management to achieve defined objectives, as well as experience of delivering service improvement and managing change. You will also have experience of promoting quality in all service areas including delivery of customer focused outcomes.

It is essential that you have knowledge of housing regulatory requirements, including relevant legislation relation to void property management, and have effective analytical skills including the ability to collect and analyse data to identify issues and opportunities for improvement, as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

You will be self-motivated, able to plan and deliver programmes of service development, have a proactive and positive approach to problem solving and be passionate about delivering excellent service.

The ability to deliver effective approaches to problem solving, effective leadership with the ability to motivate and inspire others and the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure is essential, as is the ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to quickly adapt to change.

A professional qualification of CIOH or relevant degree is desirable.

If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post. If you would like further information in relation to the Disclosure Scotland checks, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
