The Customer Technology team are a multidisciplinary team responsible for designing, developing, and delivering digital transactional council services. The team’s main responsibility is the Customer Portal – MyAccount. We are looking for a Front-End Developer to join us and help with our ambitious plans to improve the way customers interact with us online. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of digital services at Renfrewshire Council.


As the team’s Front-End Developer, you will be responsible for implementing the front-end of the Customer Portal website MyAccount, ensuring that it is accessible, user friendly, inclusive, on brand, and meets the needs of users. You will apply high design standards and write high quality code that is readable, reusable, efficient, and secure. You will make sure all solutions are well tested, documented, version controlled, and maintainable. You will design for various device sizes, with a mobile first approach.


We are looking for someone who is educated to Bachelor’s degree level in Web Development (or similar) and has relevant experience developing industry standard web user interfaces. You will be proficient in web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript – as well as design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. You will be familiar with frameworks such as Bootstrap and able to pick up new skills and knowledge quickly.


You will have the artistic and technical ability to design and code user interfaces which are functional, accessible, inclusive, on brand, efficient, and secure. You will work closely with other specialists and have effective interpersonal skills, able to communicate your ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
