The salary grade will be reviewed in line with Council process for job sizing, should the school roll change

 

Thistle Primary School is a brand-new, purpose-built school opening in August 2027 in the heart of the growing Dargavel community. Renfrewshire Council is seeking a visionary, dynamic, and highly motivated individual to take on the exciting role of Headteacher.

 

This is a rare and rewarding opportunity to lead the development of a new school from the early stages, shaping its identity, ethos, and learning environment in collaboration with the local community and key partners.

 

Key Responsibilities Prior to Opening

• Support the planning and design of internal learning spaces and outdoor environments.
• Oversee furnishing, decoration, and resource allocation.
• Recruit and build a high-performing staff team.
• Develop the school improvement plan and strategic priorities.
• Establish strong relationships with parents, carers, and community stakeholders.
• Collaborate with council teams and external partners to ensure a smooth and successful launch.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and promote wellbeing.

 

From August 2027

• Assume full leadership of Thistle Primary School.
• Embed a culture of excellence, inclusion, and innovation.
• Drive forward high-quality learning and teaching, including digital learning strategies.
• Foster a nurturing and aspirational environment for pupils and staff.
• Manage budgets and resources effectively.
• Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion across the school community.
• Build partnerships to enhance opportunities for pupils and staff.
