Health & Safety Co Ordinator

As part of our strong commitment to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of all
individuals impacted by our activities, we are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, well organised and positive individual to join our team.

This exciting new role requires an effective communicator, who will provide a wide suite of support to the Health and Safety team to enable them to provide expert advice, guidance, and support to the Council and its Services. Helping to ensure the effective implementation of a corporate health and safety function, you will monitor and maintain key registers including policy, risk assessment and audit registers. You will be expected to prepare, analyse and report on key performance information to senior officers’ council-wide and undertake system administration.

With experience of successfully implementing administrative processes and managing customer/stakeholder relationships, you will also have organised and chaired meetings, ensuring appropriate follow up and have regularly responded formally and effectively, in writing, to customers and/or stakeholders.

Having a solid understanding of how the Council operates you will have awareness of key Health and Safety legislation and be able to work with and identify areas of co –operation with other teams/services. You will have previously monitored/tracked performance formally and undertaken data analysis

You must be proficient in ICT systems and applications such as Microsoft packages, have the ability to remain calm and in control in the face of challenging situations.

Effective customer engagement skills with the ability to make effective decisions based on appropriate rationale and effective communication skills, with the ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner verbally and in writing is also essential.

An SVQ Level 3 in Business Administration/SNC in an appropriate subject, or equivalent and/or a Health &Safety Qualification is desirable.

Experience in undertaking risk assessments, implementing change and systems administration experience is also desirable but not essential.
