Housing Repairs Manager
We are seeking a motivated and strategic Housing Repairs Manager to lead the delivery of our housing repairs and maintenance service. This is a key management role responsible for ensuring that council homes are maintained to a high standard, services are customer-focused, and operational performance continually improves.
Reporting to the Housing Maintenance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing responsive repairs, empty homes, cyclical maintenance programmes and contractor performance, while ensuring best value and excellent outcomes for tenants and residents.
As Housing Repairs Manager, you will lead the operational delivery of housing repairs services through a range of contractors, including Building Services. You will oversee substantial revenue budgets of approximately £20 million per annum, ensuring effective financial management, compliance and value for money.
You will manage and develop teams responsible for repairs and empty homes, ensuring properties are returned to a lettable standard efficiently to minimise rental income loss. You will also act as the Council's lead officer on key aspects of repairs and maintenance delivery, contributing to strategic planning and continuous service improvement.
It is essential that you have experience of delivering high quality, customer focussed repairs and maintenance services, contract management including monitoring of financial and operational performance, as well as experience of developing and implementing processes and procedures including responsibility for ensuring effective service delivery.
You will have experience of preparing briefings/ reports as required for Council board and/ or to present to wide variety of audiences, and proven experience of an effective approach to problem solving and experience of implementing and managing change.
You must have an understanding of relevant Health and Safety Legislation and procedures relating to housing and building maintenance, to ensure Statutory & regulatory landlord obligations are met, and be able to demonstrate effective IT skills including use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and have effective written and verbal communication skills.
It is essential that you are able to lead and motivate with the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure, as well as the ability to develop and implement service improvements.
You must be educated to HND level or equivalent in building, construction or management discipline or have extensive experience in a related role.
You must also be able to attend meetings and events out of hours when required.
