You will undertake statutory Mental Health Officer duties in order to enable Renfrewshire Council to discharge its duties and responsibilities in relation to primary mental health legislation (i.e. Mental Health (Care & Treatment)(Scotland) Act 2003, Criminal Procedures (Scotland) Act 1995 Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000) and the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007
You will be able to demonstrate your capacity to work effectively with other agencies in particular Health and be able to meet deadlines. You will operate under the Council’s WORKSMART arrangements which promote mobile and flexible work practices and will operate throughout the Council area from any council premises. You will therefore be expected to travel throughout the whole Council area.
It is essential that you have effective communication and writing skills, with a positive, friendly, and approachable manner, and that you are flexible with an ability to work with partner agencies, and be computer literate. You will be required to record and monitor work using SWIFT and electronic case record systems, with experience/knowledge in SWIFT being desirable.
Full training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the department’s commitment to continuous improvement.
Flexibility regarding possible evening work is desirable.
You must hold a BA Hons in Social Work or equivalent and Post Graduate Certificate Mental Health Social Work (MHO) Award and be registered with the SSSC.
