Neighbourhood Services Driver Operative (Gymnasia)
Renfrewshire Council is seeking dependable and motivated individual to join our Neighbourhood Services Open Spaces & Parks team as a Driver Operative. Based at Underwood Road Depot, this team is responsible for delivering front-line services to the residents of Renfrewshire in the area of Play Park compliance and general maintenance.
As a Driver Operative, you will be responsible for the regular inspection and ongoing maintenance of children’s outdoor play and recreational facilities. You may also, from time to time, be responsible for participating in activities specifically related to the day-to-day functioning of a range of Neighbourhood Services operations e.g., refuse collection, loading, grave digging, landscaping areas, uplift, grass cutting, weed management, parks maintenance, pavement gritting amongst other duties.
This is a physical, hands-on role that requires working outdoors in all weathers. Flexibility is essential, as daily priorities may shift depending on local needs, inspections, or reports from residents. You’ll also work in close partnership with other parts of the wider Neighbourhood Services team, supporting seasonal and reactive operations as required.
This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires effective communication skills, a flexible approach, and a commitment to high standards. You will be expected to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as you will be required to work throughout Renfrewshire.
Experience of dealing with the general public and business community, alongside a valid First Aid at Work Certificate or willingness to work towards is essential. Possession of or willingness to work towards RPII Outdoor Operational Inspector is also essential.
Knowledge of health and safety practices and experience working as part of a team in a similar environment is desirable.
Experience of manual work including labouring duties and use of power and hand tools is also desirable.
Previous experience of working within a Neighbourhood Service and/or Waste service is desirable but not required, as training will be provided.
