Rural Skills Ranger (Modern Apprentice) (Temporary)

Renfrewshire Council are seeking to recruit a Rural Skills Ranger (Modern Apprentice) that will be based at Castle Semple Country Park in Lochwinnoch and will work across a number Renfrewshire Council locations including parks, high maintenance and open space areas.

You will have a genuine interest in the outdoor environment and be committed to achieving a Scottish Vocational Qualification in Rural Skills at SCQF Level 5, and be a resident of the Renfrewshire area and preferably aged between 16 and 19 years.

You must possess a minimum of 3 National 4 passes or above (OR equivalent comparable qualifications OR recent relevant work experience). It is desirable that two of the National 4 passes are English and Maths.

It is essential that you can demonstrate knowledge to carry out a range of tasks relevant to the apprenticeship and have the ability to work as part of a team and on your own, show initiative, and demonstrate effective interpersonal, numeracy and communication skills.

It is desirable for you to have experience of working in an outdoor environment (or similar) and the use of appropriate tools, as well as knowledge of Renfrewshire Council.

A full current driving licence is desirable.

If successful, you will secure a 2-year fixed term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship with positive opportunities for permanent employment with Renfrewshire Council.
