Renfrewshire Council is seeking an experienced Senior Internal Communications Officer to join our communications, marketing, events and digital service. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by joining the Council’s Communications team at a time of unprecedented challenge and change - when effective and engaging communications are essential.
The Council believes that in order to meet the challenges of the future it will need to work even more closely with partners to develop and maintain a vibrant local economy, provide a sustainable business and cultural infrastructure, and to improve and protect the environment of Renfrewshire.
We want to improve opportunities for all those who live and work in the area and we need especially to support the vulnerable, ensuring equality and fairness for all. The Council will not deliver these outcomes on its own – but can if it works closely and effectively with the wider community.
Our communications agenda needs to support these aims. As a senior member of the Corporate Communications team, you will be working with the council’s leadership to promote employer brand and the aims and achievements of the council to staff and internal stakeholders.
You will have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, and previous experience of working in an internal communications and staff engagement environment, as well as experience designing and developing internal communications channels, line management and project management experience.
It is essential you have extensive knowledge of a variety of communications channels, the ability to create engaging content across various digital platforms and possess IT, communication, presentation and analytical skills with highly developed report-writing and presentation skills.
The ability to build relationships with and influence senior managers from other departments, exercise initiative, work well without close supervision, and work to tight deadlines is also essential.
You must have a full driving licence.
Knowledge and understanding of current policy issues and developments affecting local government and the wider public-sector environment are desirable
