Working as part of a team, you will assist with the day-to-day provision and development of quality respite opportunities and support services for adults with learning disabilities.
You will assist in delivering a quality service that is of value to service users, maintain a safe environment and ensure best practice.
You will maintain record systems, care plans and risk assessments as part of the key worker role and will undertake daily tasks associated with the operation of the service under the direction of the person in charge including; delivering personal care, administering medication, handling petty cash, facilitating outings and activities, and liaison with carers and other professionals.
You will be supported in learning the skills required to enable you to be the person in charge in the absence of a Senior Officer.
A good value base, the ability to adapt and respond positively to service users changing needs, and to record care notes, care plans and write reports is essential for this position. Having an insight regarding the purpose and aims of a residential respite service is also essential.
It is essential that you have experience of working with people who have a learning disability and / or Autism Spectrum Disorder, and a good understanding of their support needs would be beneficial.
You must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing, be able to work on your own initiative and adaptable with the capacity to learn and apply new skills. You will be fully supported by senior staff in achieving a high standard of work and given the opportunity to attend relevant training courses to develop your knowledge and skills. You should also have a basic knowledge of computer systems.
Possession of an SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable, while the commitment and capacity to achieve this is essential.
You will be required to work to a rota, over seven days, which may include early shift, late shift, sleepover, and/or night shift.
You are required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or achieve registration within 6 months of taking up employment.
