Social Work Senior Practitioner
Renfrewshire Council is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred services that improve outcomes for individuals, families and communities. We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Justice Social Work Service within Children’s Services.
This is a key leadership role within the service, supporting the delivery of operational priorities and ensuring a consistently high standard of social work practice. Working closely with the Team Manager and Social Work Senior Manager, you will provide professional leadership, supervision and support to staff, helping to drive performance, promote best practice and contribute to continuous service improvement.
The post will play a critical role in the Caledonian Men’s Programme, line managing Caledonian Men’s Programme para-professionals and supporting the Team Manager in programme delivery.
As a Social Work Senior Practitioner, you will: provide day-to-day professional leadership and supervision to Social Workers and para-professionals. Support key management functions including recruitment, absence management and staff development. Deputise for the Team Manager and represent the service at meetings as required. Lead or contribute to audit, quality assurance and service improvement activity and contribute to strategic planning and wider service development.
You will manage a complex caseload, including undertaking assessments and care planning. Co-work complex cases and provide mentoring, coaching and practice guidance to staff. Contribute to multi-agency partnership working to support positive outcomes
You will have a thorough understanding of children and families social work services in a local authority setting and significant experience in assessment/care planning, care management and carrying out complex case work is essential.
You must have a working knowledge of legislation and best practice, effective IT skills, decision-making skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.
It is essential you have the ability to analyse complex information as part of assessment processes and have a sound understanding of professional social work practice.
A high standard of personal, professional and ethical behaviour, capacity to work under pressure to meet guidelines, professional standards and organisational priorities and a demonstratable commitment to continuous professional development is also essential.
Degree level qualification (Degree in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSw) or equivalent) is essential.
