Social Worker- Caledonian System Men’s Programme
Following new funding allocation we are implementing the Caledonian System in Renfrewshire. The Caledonian System is an integrated approach to address men’s domestic abuse and to improve the lives of women, children and men. The primary aim of the Caledonian System is to reduce the re-offending of men convicted of domestic abuse related offences, thereby increasing women’s and children’s safety.
The Caledonian System works with:
- Men who are convicted of domestic abuse related offences
- Their female partners or ex-partners
- Children
We are currently recruiting for roles within the Men’s Programme of the Caledonian System. The Men’s Programme consists of individual sessions, followed by the group work element and completed with a series of maintenance sessions.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with sound social work values. It is essential that you have a BA (Hons) in Social Work or equivalent; be registered with the SSSC, have experience working with those who have been involved in domestic abuse offending, experience in multi-agency working and service user supervision. The post requires the ability to undertake some evening work within the 35 hours, and to attend and achieve proficiency in relevant training. Competence in undertaking Caledonian Men’s Programme and the range of risk assessment tools such as LSCMI and SARA is desirable.
Experience of interventions with those with a range of issues such as addiction, housing, and employability issues is desirable, as is experience of writing reports to courts and the Parole Board. Experience in child and adult protection is also desirable.
There is expectation that the post holder also trains to assess suitability for and deliver the Moving Forward 2 Change (MF2C) Programme for those convicted of sexual offences so training in this programme and related risk assessment tools such as SA07 and RM2K is desirable.
As this post will involve access and use of ViSOR and involvement in MAPPA cases, preferred candidates will be required to undergo the Non-Police Personnel Vetting, currently NPPV (full) level 2. Ongoing review will be required in line with agreed Home Office standards at that time.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post. If you would like further information in relation to the Disclosure Scotland checks, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
