Based at St James Street, Paisley (Renfrewshire wide service)
This is an exciting opportunity to join our professionally challenging and rewarding service which spans Children’s and Justice Social Work. You will work with young people in conflict with the law both within the Children’s Hearing and Justice system.
Renfrewshire Council is committed to the Whole Systems Approach as an effective way of working with young people who are involved in offending behaviours. The ethos of the service is that young people involved in offending behaviour could and should be diverted from statutory measures, prosecution and custody through early intervention and robust community alternatives. We work with partners across systems (child and adult) to provide a holistic approach to young people in conflict with the law.
It is essential that you have a BA (Hons) in Social Work or equivalent; experience in working with young people in a children and families, youth justice or justice setting, e.g. undertaking individual work, effective assessment and writing skills and co-working in a multi-agency context. You will be able to communicate effectively and have effective interpersonal skills enabling you to work as part of a team as well as on your own. You will be able to prioritise your workload, be skilled in the use of IT and be committed to social work values.
It is desirable that you have previous experience of risk management, child and adult protection, writing reports for SCRA or the court, experience of supervising service users subject to statutory orders/licences and working with clients with a wide range of needs. It is desirable that you have undertaken and passed competence based training (where applicable) on: Mental Health, Child Protection and Risk Assessments i.e., START AV, AIM III, SAVRY, LSCMI.
You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
A full driving licence is desirable as is flexibility with working hours.
For information contact Michelle Smith, Team Manager on 0300 300 1199 and ask for the Whole Systems Team.
