You will work as part of a team across Renfrewshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centres, undertaking duties essential to the safe and efficient operation of sites. In this frontline role you will be required to plan and prioritise your workload effectively, maintain a professional manner at all times, and adopt a flexible approach to resolving issues as they arise. You will also draw on your experience of working in a waste environment and with the public to deliver a high standard of customer service while supporting the Council’s waste and recycling objectives.

It is essential you have knowledge of recycling processes and product segregation, and you are able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a wider team.

The role of Waste Recycling Operative requires self‑motivation, adaptability, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure, often in challenging or fast‑paced operational conditions. You will also be required to influence and negotiate with site users where necessary to ensure compliance with site rules and safe working practices.

This is a physically demanding role and requires the ability to work in all weather conditions, handle materials safely, and move between different sites as operational needs dictate. You will play an important role in supporting the Council’s aims to improve recycling performance and reduce waste across Renfrewshire.

The post will include alternate shift patterns.
