Women And Children First Manager
Renfrewshire Council’s Children’s Services Social Work team is seeking a Women and Children First Manager to lead the Women and Children First service and coordinate the Council’s response to violence against women and girls.
In this role, you will oversee support and advocacy services for women, and recovery services for women and children affected by gender‑based violence. You will provide strategic and professional leadership, drive policy and service development, manage performance and quality improvement, and strengthen multi‑agency collaboration. The post also involves representing the Council in key governance groups, ensuring effective resource management, and promoting prevention, safeguarding, and continuous improvement.
You must be a qualified Social Worker and hold a Degree level qualification (degree in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSw) or equivalent) with significant post‑qualification experience supporting women and/or children impacted by gender‑based violence and an understanding of a gendered analysis of domestic abuse and the impact on women, children and young people.
In depth knowledge of national violence against women and girls’ legislation, policies and practice along with effective leadership, influencing, decision making and communication skills including the ability to produce reports on complex issues are essential.
You must have effective planning, organisational and IT skills and a high standard of personal, professional and ethical behaviour aswell as the capacity to work under pressure to meet guidelines, professional standards and organisational priorities.
Familiarity with policies and procedures which govern the role of manager aswell as the ability to supervise and support staff effectively are also essential.
Leadership experience within a Social Work or Social Care setting is desirable, as is knowledge of the wider public protection legislation, policy and practice that underpin multi agency protection work.
The post sits within Children’s Services Social Work and requires close partnership working with Child Care and Justice Social Work teams, including occasional reciprocal management cover.
