Join Stirling Council as a Neighbourhood Maintenance Operative and play a key role in keeping our communities clean, safe and welcoming throughout the year.
In this hands-on outdoor role, you’ll support our Land (Neighbourhood) and Roads Services teams to maintain and improve the quality of public spaces across the Stirling area. Whether you’re helping care for parks, open spaces and sports grounds or supporting seasonal and summer service demands, every day brings new challenges and opportunities.
You will represent Stirling Council with professionalism and pride, working flexibly across services to deliver high-quality, place-based support that benefits our residents, visitors and communities.
As part of a dedicated local team, you’ll carry out a variety of outdoor maintenance duties to keep public spaces safe, attractive and well maintained. The role may also include operating vehicles, plant and equipment to support environmental and roads maintenance activities.
What you will do:
- Carry out grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, weeding, litter picking and street sweeping
- Support cemetery teams with non-grave digging duties
- Operate vehicles, plant and equipment safely and in accordance with training
- Work with colleagues, communities and partner services to deliver place-based improvements
- Maintain high standards of customer service and represent Stirling Council professionally
What we are looking for:
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Physical ability to undertake manual outdoor work
- Understanding of health and safety responsibilities
This Job Description sits within an agreed organisational change process and covers duties delivered across three established operative roles. It is subject to ongoing review and may be amended as the change process progresses.
