About the Role:
Stirling Council’s Waste Services team is seeking an experienced and proactive Waste Collections Team Leader to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role ensures the compliant and efficient frontline management of our waste collection operations while driving strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:The successful candidate will:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of waste collection services, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with health and safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Lead, motivate, and manage the front line waste collections team, including officers and supervisors, fostering high levels of performance, morale, and adherence to best practices.
• Monitor and evaluate service delivery, implementing operational improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with waste management regulations, environmental standards, and Stirling Council policies, maintaining a focus on sustainability.
• Contribute to strategic planning, aligning operational improvements with organisational objectives.
• Use IT systems such as route planning software, Microsoft Office packages, and performance management tools to support decision-making and optimise operations.
• Prepare and manage reports, budgets, and performance data to support effective service delivery.
About You:
We are looking for a dynamic and organised individual with a proven track record in waste management or a similar operational leadership role.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience: A strong background in waste collection services or related operational management.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of waste management regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental practices.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
• Strategic Thinking: Capability to plan, prioritise, and implement operational improvements aligned with organisational goals.
• Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with teams, stakeholders, and the public.
• IT Skills: Proficiency in using IT systems, including route planning software, Microsoft Office packages, and performance management tools.
• Qualifications: Relevant certifications or qualifications in waste management (e.g., Degree, HND, WAMITAB), health and safety (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH), or operations management.
