An opportunity exists for a highly motivated person to line manage the Commercial Team within the Council’s Environmental Health & Trading Standards Service. The team functions are wide ranging and include food safety, workplace safety, licensing, infectious disease control, and water quality and safety. The post holder will support the Environmental Health Manager in the effective management of the service and ensure that there is a corporate approach to service provision in the interests of delivering best value to service users.
The skills and experience you must have:
- Professionally qualified Environmental Health Officer, holding a Degree, and or, REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent professional qualification recognised by REHIS to practice as an EHO in Scotland).
- Member of professional institute covering the professional discipline of environmental health.
- Relevant professional experience.
- Ability to lead, manage and motivate professional staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly developed inter-personal skills.
- Ability to drive delivery of consistently high standards within team.
- In-depth knowledge of current and proposed legislation and best practice relevant to the responsibilities of the team.
- Effective delegation skills.
- Good information technology skills.
