A role with a difference…
Little Bugs is a sector-leading outdoor nursery, and we are looking for a passionate, qualified Early Years Outdoor Practitioner to join our team in a unique peripatetic role across both of our woodland settings.
This is not your typical nursery position. You will play an active role in the development, growth, and day-to-day life of two inspiring outdoor settings, working alongside a skilled and supportive team to shape high-quality practice.
If you are someone who thrives in dynamic environments, loves the outdoors, and wants to be part of something progressive and meaningful this could be the role for you.
About the role
- Work across both Little Bugs sites, bringing consistency, creativity, and strong practice
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of our provision
- Support high-quality, child-led outdoor experiences rooted in play and wellbeing
- Build strong, nurturing relationships with children and staff across both settings
- Engage in observations and documentation to support planning and children’s progress in a meaningful, manageable, and purposeful way (no unnecessary paperwork!)
- Be part of a team that values reflection, innovation, and doing things differently
This role offers variety, professional growth, and the chance to influence practice across two established and respected outdoor settings.
What we’re looking for
- A qualified Early Years Practitioner (e.g. SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People), HNC Childhood Practice, or equivalent recognised by the SSSC)
- Registration (or eligibility to register) with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
- A genuine passion for outdoor learning and play pedagogy
- Confidence working flexibly across different environments and teams
- A nurturing, relational approach to supporting children, including those with additional support needs
- A willingness to get stuck in, be part of a team, and embrace the outdoors in all weathers
What we offer
- A truly unique and rewarding role with opportunities to shape practice
- Full staff uniform
- First-class training and professional development opportunities
- Wellness days to support staff wellbeing
- Private healthcare programme (available after 2 years’ service)
- A supportive, forward-thinking team that values innovation and staff voice
