Student Support Liaison Officer x 2 (1.0 FTE) (Fixed Term until July 2027)

The post holder will work closely with Student Support Advisers to engage and re-engage students with additional support needs who may be at risk of disengagement and provide coordinated administrative and operational support relating to student support plans, engagement activity and assessment arrangements. Acting as a key liaison between Student Support Services and academic faculties, the role will support the coordination of student support plans, monitoring of engagement, and the administration of support arrangements including Alternative Assessment Arrangements. The role will also assist in reducing administrative burden on teaching staff by supporting the completion of faculty feedback forms and review documentation.
The post holder will also support the wider work of Advice, Guidance and Learner Support by assisting with engagement activity, pre-entry processes and operational enquiries from students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Proactively engage and support students with additional needs, helping to improve retention and participation.
- Monitor student engagement with support plans, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Support the delivery and review of tailored support plans and targeted wellbeing initiatives.
- Coordinate alternative assessment arrangements (e.g. scribes, readers, assistive technology).
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure effective implementation of exam support.
- Act as a key link between Student Support Services, faculties and other departments.
- Facilitate clear communication regarding student support plans and progress.
- Maintain accurate records of support plans, reviews and engagement activity.
- Contribute to reporting, tracking outcomes and supporting continuous service improvement.
- Assist with student administration, including UCAS processes and responding to queries.
- Support student review meetings, ensuring actions are recorded and followed up.
- Assist with outreach, pre-entry activities and the promotion of support services.
- Work collaboratively within the Student Support Services team.
- Contribute to process improvements and attend college and external events as required.
- Uphold equality, diversity, data protection and health & safety standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and undertake additional duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Qualifications:
- Educated to HNC/SCQF level 7 or equivalent
- Experience in working in a similar role
Knowledge:
Demonstrable knowledge of
- Knowledge of additional support needs and inclusive learning practices within Further or Higher Education
- Awareness of assessment arrangements and reasonable adjustments in an educational setting
- Understanding of issues affecting student engagement, retention and wellbeing
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of pastoral care and wellbeing
- Contribute to the delivery of a consistent and high-quality student support service across all campuses.
- Demonstrate knowledge of student issues within Further or Higher Education, Student Funding and the benefits system
- Strong organisational skills to coordinate support plans and review processes
- Ability to monitor student engagement and respond appropriately to emerging concerns
- Ability to maintain accurate records and manage administrative processes relating to student support
- Ability to plan, organise and deliver to deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

- Good level of IT Literacy including a working knowledge of MS Word, Teams, Access, and Excel

Experience:
- Previous experience of working within a Further or Higher Education environment
- Previous experience of working within a customer care and client central environment
- Previous experience of working with a diversity of clients especially those with additional support needs or speakers of other languages advantageous
- Previous experience of working in an advocacy role
- Previous experience of funding issues/money management support
- Experience working with students with additional support needs
- Experience working in a liaison or coordination role across multiple departments
- Experience supporting examination arrangements or assessment adjustments
- Experience of coordinating administrative processes within an educational or support environment.
