The Department of Automotive Studies is currently looking for a SVQ assessor within the Automotive section, to assess candidates against National Occupational Standards for a range of SVQ’s including Light and Heavy Vehicle repair. The post may also encompass IMI accreditation schemes such as Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA).
Qualified to HNC (SCQF Level 7), SVQ 3 or equivalent level of qualification, in an appropriate field, you will support, assess, and verify candidates undertaking SVQs. You will also assess and verify technicians currently working in industry against awarding body criteria for industry relevant accreditation schemes. You will be in possession of, or working towards, a relevant formal Assessor qualification (L&D 9 and /or L&D 11) relating to the gathering of evidence of learner attainment in a range of work settings.
Industrial experience in Automotive Light and Heavy Vehicle Repair and knowledge of the relevant National Occupational Standards systems is essential for this post, as is the ability to work to strict deadlines. You will also liaise with employers to ensure candidates gain experience and meet awarding body requirements, including discussing employer needs for recruitment of apprentices. A full driving licence is essential.
It is expected that the role will initially be based at our Motherwell Campus, although you may be required to work at any campus depending on Faculty requirements.
