Health, Safety and Security Manager (Ref A145)
Full time/Permanent /Aberdeen City Campus
Salary: £63,054.58 – £67,028.22 per annum

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety and Security Manager to lead and develop our Health, Safety and Security function across the College. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring effective health and safety operations, policy and strategy, supporting a safe, compliant and high-quality environment across North East Scotland College.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal Finance and Estates, you will be responsible for the strategic development and operational management of Health, Safety and Security across the College. You will provide high-level advice and guidance to managers and staff, support the Strategic Leadership Team in meeting their health and safety responsibilities, and provide appropriate management information to support decision-making.

Leading and developing a dedicated team, you will oversee the day-to-day performance of the Health, Safety and Security function, driving change, continuous improvement and high standards of service delivery. You will also manage the security and janitorial contracts, ensuring KPIs and contract standards are maintained, and work closely with contractors and external partners to ensure safe working practices across College premises.

Candidates should possess a degree or equivalent qualification in the subject area, such as a NEBOSH National Diploma, together with membership of IOSH. You will have significant experience as a Health and Safety practitioner and have knowledge of contract management and procurement processes, strong organisational skills and the ability to build positive internal and external partnerships are essential. Knowledge of Health and Safety within the FE sector is desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Degree or equivalent qualification in subject area (i.e. SCQF Level 10, NEBOSH National Diploma or Part 2 National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health).
  2. Member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

  4. Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development.

 

EXPERIENCE

  1. Significant experience as a Health and Safety practitioner.
  2. Proven experience of supporting the development and delivery of Health and Safety strategies and delivering associated action plans.
  3. Demonstrable experience of project management and of operating within a project framework.
  4. Significant relevant experience of managing a Health and Safety function in a diverse organisation including effective development, deployment and leadership of teams
  5. Demonstrable experience of managing in a results driven work environment.
  6. Experience of using Health and Safety data and producing management reports to inform decision-making and provision of advice to managers.

 

KNOWLEDGE

  1. Proven in depth knowledge of Health and Safety administration and processes and the ability to review and develop these to effect efficiencies and a first-class service to customers.
  2. Demonstrable and extensive knowledge of Health and Safety and best practice in relation to a range of Health and Safety policies and procedures.
