Bring STEM to life across the North East – inspiring the next generation through hands-on, mobile learning
North East Scotland College is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to further develop and deliver an established regional initiative focused on STEM outreach and engagement.
This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in enhancing an innovative programme that is already making a positive impact across the North East. The role will support the continued growth and delivery of activity designed to inspire young people and raise awareness of pathways into STEM education and careers.
At the heart of the initiative is Energy on the Move, a dedicated outreach vehicle designed by Glasgow Science Centre. The vehicle features interactive exhibits that provide inspiration, education and insight into the energy transition, alongside highlighting the wide range of career opportunities emerging in this rapidly evolving sector.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and setting up the vehicle at a range of locations across the region, ensuring it is safe, accessible and fully prepared for use. You will deliver engaging, hands-on sessions to school pupils, community learners and other visitors, providing high-quality facilitation and instruction that brings STEM subjects to life.
Working as part of the Schools-College Partnership team, you will support the ongoing development and delivery of a coordinated programme of outreach activity that connects education, employers and young people. This will include planning and organising visits, enhancing interactive learning experiences and representing the College at events across the region.
We are looking for someone who is well organised, proactive and confident working independently. You will be comfortable managing a varied workload, coordinating logistics and delivering engaging sessions to a wide range of audiences. A genuine interest in STEM and outreach activity is essential, along with a strong commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
Applicants should hold an HNC/D (or equivalent) in a STEM-related subject and possess a full UK driving licence. Experience of working with young people, along with strong communication and demonstration skills, is essential. Experience of driving vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes would be advantageous; however, training and qualifications will be provided where required.
This post offers a real opportunity to make a tangible impact - building on a successful initiative, bringing STEM to life for young people, and contributing to the development of the region’s future skills pipeline. It will particularly suit someone who is passionate about education, engagement and making a difference.
