As Senior Accountant, you will get to use your skills and experience to support the social, economic, and place transformation of Clyde Gateway. This is a 12 month, full-time position (35 hours per week) to cover maternity leave with a salary range of £48,137 - £54,775 per annum depending on experience. Post Overview:
The post holder will work directly with the Head of Finance & Corporate Governance and will ultimately be responsible for the end-to-end finance function including financial and budgetary control. As Senior Accountant you will play an important role in improving the financial operations and strategic decision making process of the group. Your primary responsibilities will include providing management information that informs key stakeholders and assists business decisions. Additionally, you will improve and implement robust financial controls, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk.
You’ll be organised, flexible, willing to undertake a range of tasks, and comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Tasks:
The post holder will support a wide range of finance activities and will work in an exciting and fast paced environment.
- Support Head of Finance & Corporate Governance and Senior Management Team
- Manage transactional finance staff to ensure accurate and efficient processing of transactions
- Oversee day-to-day operations
- Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and maintain high quality financial data
- Provide guidance and support for team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and ensuring staff development
- Take financial ownership of projects, including liaising with and supporting non finance staff, and attendance at project boards
- Preparation and submission of grant funding claims
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives
Continually review and audit internal procedures to ensure accuracy and reliance on systems and current processes, but to also challenge and recommend efficiencies
- Support Head of Finance & Corporate Governance with complex commercial modelling and analysis
- Involved in year-end accounts preparation; producing statutory accounts in line with Charity SORP
- Direct budgeting, forecasting and long- and medium-term financial planning exercises
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and follow up of any audit recommendations
- Preparation of papers for Board and Committee meetings
Person Specification:
The post holder will have experience in a busy finance environment ideally in the public, private, or not-for-profit sectors.
Essential Criteria:
· A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar or related role
· Qualified CIMA/ACCA/CA
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work to and meet deadlines
- Confident user of Excel and other accounting systems
- Strong communication skills; proven ability to interact with multiple stakeholders
- A self-starter with an ability to work independently
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of Sage
- Experience of Charity SORP accounting
- Experience of project accounting
