Internal Communications Officer

Salary - £33,651 per annum

Hours - Full-time, 35.75 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Contract - Permanent

Location - Meadowbank Sports Centre (Hybrid working)

We are looking for an experienced and creative Internal Communications Officer to help connect our people and keep colleagues informed, engaged and aligned with our purpose and values. You will shape organisation-wide communications, advise managers and senior leaders, and support a positive, collaborative culture, particularly during periods of change.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and deliver internal communication strategies and plans that align with our mission and values.
• Lead internal campaigns and manage a content calendar across newsletters, the intranet and staff briefings.
• Create clear, engaging, and inclusive content for various internal channels that reflects our brand and supports organisational goals.
• Use data and feedback to improve communication effectiveness and employee engagement continuously.
• Encourage two-way communication by gathering feedback and sharing company news, achievements, events, and recognition programmes.
• Support our Fit for the Future transformation programme by planning and distributing communications that influence behaviour and build support for change.
• Handle confidential information appropriately and ensure internal communications are accurate, consistent and properly approved.

What You’ll Bring:

• A degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
• At least 3 years’ experience in internal communications, ideally in the public or non-profit sector.
• Proven ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate internal campaigns, with strong skills in content creation and editing for multiple channels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and adapt messages for different audiences.
• Strong relationship-building and active listening skills, with the confidence to advise colleagues and senior leaders and understand the needs of frontline and office-based employees.
• Highly organised and detail-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work confidently in a fast-changing environment and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• A good understanding of how internal communications can engage employees, support organisational change and build a positive workplace culture.

Working Arrangements:

This is a hybrid role based at Meadowbank Sports Centre, combining office and home working. You will also need to travel regularly across Edinburgh to work with colleagues at our venues.
