Salary: FC11 £62,583.94– £70,430.40 (£33.34 - £37.52 per hour)

We are an Arms Length External Organisations (ALEO) of Fife Council and a key leader in waste and resource management across Scotland who provide high quality services to public sector, commercial and domestic clients. We create and deliver sustainable solutions to the challenges our customers face.
With a workforce of more than 200 people and operations managing more 400,000 tonnes of waste and recyclable materials per year, we deliver innovative, sustainable solutions across a diverse and complex operational environment and are developing our HR function.
Position details
This is an HR leadership role operating within a fast paced, commercially focused and unionised environment, requiring strong professional judgement, resilience and credibility at senior level.
You will operate as a critical friend to the Head of People who you will directly report to, and be a key advisor on organisational design, workforce planning, case and project management and risk management and you will develop and influence HR strategy and plans. Extensive up to date employment law, HR policy, case management knowledge and expertise is essential as this role will be responsible for managing and overseeing the HR Team who deliver all aspects of HR across the organisation. An excellent and confident communicator you will be required to successfully manage some difficult employer stakeholder relationships to achieve positive outcomes for the business and you will lead on employee engagement across the organisation. As an associated employer of Fife Council, it is essential you have current experience and appreciation of working in a unionised, public-sector environment.
Who we are looking for
You will have significant HR management and leadership experience in a current similar role in a busy complex HR environment and be educated to degree level or equivalent in a related field and be a Chartered Member of CIPD.
You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Manage, coach and oversee an HR team responsible for all HR matters and work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships and gain credibility with Senior managers and other stakeholders e.g. Trade Unions, national working groups.
- Develop and deliver HR strategy and annual workforce plans aligned to organisational and HR priorities.
- Lead on complex employee relations cases and employment tribunals
- Contribute to corporate risk management and audit processes
- Manage a high and varied workload, to prioritise and organise work and to respond quickly to changing demands.
- Manage conflicting priorities and take an analytical approach to problem solving with the ability to determine creative and practical solutions
- Oversee policy work and People Management training to ensure HR policies, procedures and practices are legally compliant, effective and support continuous improvement.
- Analyse workforce data to inform decision making and improve performance and research, develop and implement bespoke solutions to emerging HR issues, in conjunction with Fife Council colleagues.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team and be able to develop our HR function to ensure we can continue to meet our organisational priorities and develop our business.
