Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Improvement Service in the role of Project Manager – Climate Change Transformation.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic and proactive individual with experience of change and transformation, and a knowledge of Climate Change issues and the work taking place within Local Government to achieve carbon reduction and a sustainable environment.
The Project Manager will be based in the Improvement Service and will be expected to work closely with Local Government, Scottish Government, COSLA, SOLACE, Sustainable Scotland Network and other local and national partners, such as Public Health Scotland.
The post holder will support local government in Scotland to deliver on addressing climate change, using transformational change to progress toward a just transition to net zero carbon emissions while adapting to the impacts of climate change. The role will help councils to have the skills, capacity and support necessary to assist their work in delivering change and improvement around climate change, net zero, just transition and environmental sustainability.
This will involve the co-ordination of information and facilitating the sharing of best practice across Scotland, thereby eliminating potential duplication of effort, helping drive innovation and improvement, promoting joined-up approaches that seek to tackle climate change and focusing on sustainable outcomes.
An additional element of the post will be to look at IS internal business functions and identify ways in which the organisation can become more environmentally aware and address any negative impacts on climate change, as well as identifying how the organisation can embed climate change considerations across all its products and services.
