About Us

The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible for the superintendence and management of all lighthouses, buoys and beacons within those waters. We have provided this vital safety service to mariners since 1786.

The Role – Overview

Based at the NLB’s Headquarters in Edinburgh (with the option of hybrid working), as Compliance Officer you will provide a centralised business improvement and compliance function for NLB. Acting as NLB’s Data Protection Officer you will oversee compliance with all relevant legislation, focussing specifically on Data Protection and Transparency.

Salary and Benefits

  • £41,244 per annum rising to £45,374 after 1 year in post.

· Annual Leave allowance of 25 days, rising by 1 day per year of service up to 30 days

Qualifications/ Experience Required

  • Data Protection involvement / experience, incorporating knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act 2018
  • Freedom of Information Act 2000 involvement / experience
  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
  • ISO Business Management System experience
  • Experience and awareness of the Internal Audit Process
  • Experience and awareness of Business Continuity Management
  • Good planning and scheduling skills
  • Competent IT user (SharePoint experience)
  • Flexibility / Team Player
  • Proactive approach to identifying business improvement opportunities
  • Ability to manage competing demands effectively
