The Role
Tayside Contracts is the commercial trading arm of the Councils of Angus, Dundee, and Perth & Kinross. Our Transport Service operates and maintains a large and varied fleet of vehicles and plant across four modern, well‑equipped workshops strategically located throughout the region. We provide efficient servicing and maintenance for both our own fleet and that of Angus Council.
We are seeking a Transport Services Manager to lead a well‑established team of around 65 professional and operational employees. The role is responsible for delivering fleet operations and maintenance with an annual budget of approximately £17 million.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward‑thinking professional to lead the service, drive continued efficiency and performance improvement, and work collaboratively with clients to explore opportunities for integration, partnership working, and innovation—ensuring the service and fleet are prepared for future needs.
The Individual
You will have demonstrable experience in leading a transport service and managing both professional and operational staff. You will be confident managing financial resources, health and safety responsibilities, and business continuity planning. A strong understanding of financial and operational performance monitoring and improvement is essential.
You will bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings and groups effectively. You will be a strategic thinker, customer‑focused, and skilled in service management.
