Due to recent recruitment, an excellent opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer or Regulatory Services Officer/Food Safety Officer to join our team, working in a very challenging yet beautiful part of the west of Scotland. Working from the Lochgilphead office, you will undertake the wide range of environmental health enforcement, including public health and food safety, across a wide area including the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha. There will be a requirement to manage your own district workload, whilst ensuring and protecting public health. (Please note that the salary for an EHO is £40914-44272)
Consideration will be given to applications from newly qualified Environmental Health Officers. Prospective applicants who do not hold the REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health should contact REHIS (contact@rehis.com) to confirm their eligibility to work as an EHO in Scotland, or the requirements in order to do so. Guidance can be found at https://rehis.com/what-is-environmental-health/ehos-who-qualified-outside-scotland/
Recognising the national shortage of Environmental Health Officers, the post may be filled as a Regulatory Services Officer (Salary £35786-£39819) . We would be interested to receive applications from graduates who are authorised food safety enforcement officers holding the Higher Certificate in Food Hygiene/Food Control, or are working as an environmental health enforcement officer in local authorities. Depending on the successful candidate, there may be an opportunity to undertake training and development to support a career pathway from Regulatory Services Officer to Environmental Health Officer.
