Local knowledge of Midlothian and knowledge of the Bikeability programme is desirable. Holding a BSI (Bikeability Scotland Instructor) qualification would be ideal however the jobholder should be willing to attend any training courses as appropriate to gain further knowledge of the programme.
An interest in cycling and knowledge of school structure would be preferable.
Experience of working to deadlines, using good verbal and written communication skills in order to report and negotiate is also essential.
An understanding of the key issues and barriers to participating that schools may have would also be advantageous.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 24 hours over 38 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £17,151.63 per annum.
Requirements
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children, You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
