We are looking to grow our Invest NL team and have opportunities for an Environmental Health Officer (Pollution Control & Public Health), Planning Officer/Senior Planning Officer and two Senior Building Standards Surveyors.

You will play a key role in shaping the future of North Lanarkshire. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing bespoke advice to potential developers to help co-ordinate and accelerate the statutory consent process to facilitate increased investment and deliver positive outcomes.
  • Assisting in the delivery of an effective service for our Environmental Health team by undertaking investigation work measuring noise levels and assessing any potential noise impact; investigating general pollution control issues on a reactive basis; responding to statutory planning consultations in relation to air quality and contaminated land issues; investigation of public health complaints, including statutory nuisance investigation and assessment; assisting in the development of policies and strategies.
  • Contributing to the review of and further development of the end-to-end process for statutory consents to improve the efficiency of the statutory consent process in North Lanarkshire.

Qualifications and Experience:

Environmental Health Officer

  • REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent
  • Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent
  • REHIS Membership (Chartered) is desirable
  • Able to demonstrate significant experience in pollution control and public health and a wider range of environmental health work
  • Significant experience of investigation of noise complaints and assessing planning applications for environmental health legislation
  • Knowledge of current environmental protection, pollution control and public health legislation and issues
  • Awareness or familiarity with current and upcoming development pressures such as data centres is desirable.
  • Current driving licence is essential
  • The successful candidate will be required to participate in an out-of-hours standby service

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
